Stone Ridge Veterinary Medical Center provides pet vaccination services for dogs and cats. The proper administration of vaccines is a vital aspect of keeping your dog or cat healthy. Vaccination is a safe and easy way to protect your pet from serious or life threatening disease.
We follow the recommended vaccination protocols established by The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), an organization that sets the gold standard for veterinary excellence. AAHA’s guidelines divide vaccines into two categories, core vaccines and non-core vaccines.
Core Vaccines
Core vaccines are viewed as essential for every pet, and maybe required by law. They protect your pet from severe and potentially fatal diseases that may spread and infect humans or other animals.
Core vaccinations for dogs include:
- Distemper
- Parvovirus
- Parainfluenza
- Adenovirus
- Rabies
Core vaccinations for cats include:
- Rabies
- Panleukopenia
- Rhinotracheitis
- Calicivirus

Non-Core Vaccines
Non-core vaccines should be administered based upon lifestyle and exposure risk. Many vaccines are available for use in dogs and cats, but not every pet needs every available vaccine. With your help, we will carefully review your pet’s risks during their annual wellness exam, and make recommendations.
Non-core vaccinations include:
- Bordetella
- Leptospirosis
- Lyme
- Rattlesnake
- Influenza
- Leukemia vaccine — recommended for all outdoor cats.
Puppy & Kitten Vaccinations
Vaccinations for puppies and kittens start at approximately six weeks of age and boosters are given every three weeks until they are 15 to 17 weeks of age. The rabies vaccine is administered at the last puppy or kitten visit.

Vaccinations are vital to your pet’s heath care plan. We understand it can be challenging to remember when your pet’s vaccinations are due, especially in multi-pet households. For your convenience, we provide timely advance reminders. Reminders can be sent by email, text, or mail. Let us know your preference, and we will set up the reminder service for you. Additionally, you can check your pet’s health and vaccine history on our pet portal, which also includes vaccine due dates and prevention refills.
