Cassi K. Pettyjohn, B.S., D.V.M.

Veterinarian/Practice Owner

Dr. Cassi Pettyjohn grew up in a small town in Southwest Kansas. She graduated from Kansas State University in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in animal science and in 2006 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

After graduation, Dr. Pettyjohn pursued a career in equine medicine, which took her to the great states of Iowa, Virginia, and Texas. After moving to the Houston area, Dr. Pettyjohn began to specialize in small animal medicine. Her special interests include dermatology, internal medicine, and dentistry.

She is married with 2 children, two miniature Australian Shepherds (Ankiel and Molina), one cat (Pudge) —all her animals are named after Major League Baseball Players. She enjoys spending time with her family and helping her husband around the farm.

Laura Kitten, DVM

Dr. Kitten grew up in Lubbock, TX (Wreck ‘Em Tech!). She received her Bachelor of Arts with a Pre-Veterinary Specialization in 2012, and then worked as a Veterinary Technician for a year with a prominent Equine Surgeon in Lamesa, TX. At first, Dr. Kitten thought she wanted to work on horses but realized her love for small animal medicine in veterinary school at Texas A&M, where she graduated in 2017. Dr. Kitten and her husband moved to the Montgomery area shortly after finishing school, where her husband works as a fireman.

Since entering the field, Dr. Kitten has developed a passion for Dermatology, Endocrinology, and Cardiology. She also has a strong background in preventive care, as well as basic dentistry.

Dr. Kitten is married to Stephen Kitten, her high school sweetheart. The two have a Doberman named Ari and German Shorthaired Pointer named Gage. Dr. Kitten and her husband enjoy horseback riding, snow and water skiing, kayaking, and almost anything outdoors.

Emily Murphy, DVM

I grew up in Northeast Houston and knew I wanted to be a vet since I could talk. I attended  UT Austin for undergrad and then attended Texas A&M for veterinary school; earning my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2014.  I enjoy spending time with my husband, daughter, and our 4 dogs.

Mary Stocks

My name is Mary Stocks and I am originally from Alabama. I went to the loveliest village of the plains (Auburn University) for both my undergraduate (B.S Microbiology) and my Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM). War Eagle!

As a veterinarian, one of my passions is client communication focusing on preventative medicine. I try to advocate for the wellness of all pets to avoid treating preventable diseases (heartworm disease, parasites, etc.) and prolonging the quality of life for progressing diseases (kidney disease, heart disease, cognitive dysfunction, etc.). Ask me more if you have any questions!

Outside of being a veterinarian, the thing that makes me the happiest is spending time with my husband and our two dachshunds (I call them my “Weiner Boys”). We love to spend time outdoors together and often spend our time playing disc golf, going on hikes, or walking around our neighborhood. We also love a good brewery.

Stone Ridge Veterinary Medical Center has been one of my favorite places I have ever worked under due to the fantastic doctors (I get to call peers) and the talented technicians, assistants, and receptionists I get the honor to work with. We are excited to offer our services to your pets!

Care Team

We hold ourselves to a higher standard. That is why every member of our staff is required to earn their Certified Veterinary Assistant credentials after three months of employment, an uncommon but important commitment to excellence in patient care. We don’t stop there… we are also proud of our PennHIP certification and other team accolades and accomplishments.
